Uh, I think I have this design for long enough. I should get motivated and revamp this site. I'm also thinking about merging the comics and art section back because I more or less quit drawing comics for the time being though I do have a couple of projects for this year lined up, including a collaboration with TML and a comic anthology project. I'll post more info later when we actually have some concrete stuff done.

I'm also thinking seriously about starting an adventure game finally. I've been toying with the idea for years now, and I think it's about time to do something with it. My first project will be a one room puzzle just for me to learn the program and see what I can do.

I still have to add links to my newer drawings, but I'll have to do that later when I use the laptop. For now here's the list:

A Walk in the Forest - Zelda fanart for someone in the exchange.
Link and Ordon Goat - Another Zelda fanart.
Fun in the Sun - Phoenix Wright fanart that ended up winning a contest over at DA.
Grumpy Edgeworth - Another PW fanart. The two PW pics were supposed to be one.
Kyle vs. Rachel - Animation I did for Andy's request.
Kyle Hyde sketch - Another Hotel Dusk pic.
Hope and Courage - Zelda fanart again. This time it's OoT Link and Sheik.
Lotta Hart - latest finished drawing, PW fanart.

I'm hoping this year I can switch gears and get back to drawing more seriously and do more original stuff. I love doing fan arts and all, but doing original stuff is still more fun for me in some ways.

Bah, I still haven't link all my new drawings (as well as the last set I mentioned in my previous journal entry) to the art section. I guess I'll deal with it later since I'm lazy. I've been busy designing and maintaining other sites (not mine). Eventually, I want to redesign this site as well as give a long over due face lift to slyen.org. For now here are the latest drawings from October and November. They're all Zelda fanarts. I seriously need to do some original stuff, but these fanarts have been good exercise for me.

A Well Earned Rest - for Einmonim who asked for water and something I don't remember, and apparently I never uploaded it. It's actually on a different site.
Pensive Sheik (with giant hips) - for Dagron Rat - someday I'll have to redraw the bottom half because the weird anatomy really annoys me.
Anticipation - one of my better fanarts.
Hope and Courage - for Horrificwhisper who wanted Sheik and Link in the same pic.

Good news is if all goes well, I might have a new comic for print six months from now. Everything is still in the planning stage but I hope we can get something done. It'll be a fan comic, but deep down the feeling of drawing original comic is slowly coming back.

I've actually done quite a few drawings in the past few months, but I just didn't bother to link them up. I'm actually considering moving my fanart junk to elsewhere and keeping them separated from my original, more serious stuff. For now I'll just list the pics that are not in the gallery yet.

If you want to contact me, you can post a note here in the blog section or email me at catstudiocyen.net. The email forms and bbs are all broken so don't bother to use those (not that people actually write me). I'll be looking for a new webmail program and it might be a while before I actually implement any of the new programs.

I can't believe how neglected my site (especially the comics section) has been. So many broken links and applications... For the main section, I updated my links section with a bunch of new links that I forgot to add until now.

I updated the comics section finally with some new info in the published section. I kept forgetting to add the book Cartoon Clinic by Ben Cormack in the published section. A copy of the book arrived at my family's home sometime after my big move, but I didn't have to chance to visit my parents until late last year. The book is very pretty and well written. People should take a look if they're interested in learning more about drawing cartoons.

I should plug the other book again, which is How to Draw and Sell Comic Strips by Alan McKenzie. Another very nicely put together and informative book.

I haven't bothered to update news in the past month or so, but I've been fairly busy with drawings and other various things. Most of the recent updates have been various Final Fantasy XII fanarts. Maybe I will make a separate gallery for the game soon. I redrew and recolored the Balthier pic. I finished the Penelo pic also. Today I finished my favorite pic so far, the Basch portrait. I also got into a pixel making mood so I did a large number them over one weekend.

Last week I also managed to finish my first comic in two years. The super short story is for tOFU. I'm very happy that I finaly fulfilled the promise to my OFU friends as well as finally finishing a story after such a long break. Drawing comics is still hard, but I had fun with it and the result wasn't too horrible.

I've been kind of slow updating the doodle section, but for the latest junk, check out the art blog.

Even though most of the pictures so far are FFXII-related fanarts, I'm just happy that I'm actually drawing. Hopefully I'll be motivated to draw comics again, but we'll see.

Most of the FFXII stuff aren't done yet except for that one pic, but you can see progress at the doodles section.

I'm actually most proud of the lastest pic, which is the one of orchids though the Katamari one for Wid's birthday is pretty damn cute if I say so myself. XD

If I do more FFXII pics, I might just dump them into a mini page (or I just separate all my fanarts from my "real" drawings), but we'll see how much I finish first.

At least now the desire to draw has increased enough that I'm almost ready to start again, but I don't know if I'll be posting stuff right away considering the internet connection here is still spotty. I've been writing the story for Bamboo Princess as well as designing the characters. The comic won't be drawn until about a year from now considering how much research I need to do. I also want to try something different for this story, mainly write a complete script before proceeding to draw.

It's been way too long since my last update. Real life stuff has been pretty busy, and I've been rather unmotivated to draw. In the last week or so, I'm finally started to get interested in drawing again. It really started with Wid and I doodling little cartoony animals and figures while we were at a wedding. I now finished a sketch for costume design and a Wind Waker fan art. I'm not going to post the costume design until later because it's for someone. For now, you can check out the fan art

I started playing Wind Waker again. The last time I played was back in November before the big move. Since then, I totally forgot what I did in the game, but since I was too lazy to start over, I decided to just keep playing. The game play is similar to that of Ocarina of Time, but I like the style of WW better. It's almost like playing a cartoon.

Oh wow, it's been months since I even bothered to update the blog. Well, it's 2006, and I finally revamped the website. I actually had 95% of the site completed back in September, but it wasn't until now that I actually fixed all the problems and uploaded the new page. There are still a couple of things that needs to be fixed, such as drawing a picture for the index and finishing webclap.

End of 2005 was a very busy time for me. I finished my work in the lab, packed up my stuff, moved to the opposite end of the earth, and got married. Now I'll have more time to do web-related stuff. I would like to start drawing again, but I have other things are high priorty than drawing comics.

I'll finally have time to reply all the emails I've received in the last couple of months...

Last but not least... 新年快樂! 恭喜發財!

I freaked out a bit late last week about how much stuff I still need to do before the big move and wedding. Plus, I'm worried about how much money I'll be spending (a bunch of my stuff decided to break in the last few weeks). I've calmed down a bit after I made a list, but the next few months will still be super busy for me... After finishing two large SD fanarts last weekend, I felt a bit burned out so I'm taking a little break from doing fanarts. I've switched back to original stuff, things that people don't care too much, but it's nice to switch gears once in a while. My motivation to finish the next page of Down is sorely lacking, but I'm going to force myself to get it done.

My mind has been drifting towards another story of mine. I submitted a proposal to a paid subscription site early last year and the editor never got back to me. It's ok though because I can do a better job with the story now, but I still feel like I'm not ready to tell the story. Sure, I have the first two chapters plotted out in my head, but I need to figure out the big picture. What is it that I want to say and all that. I've been doing more character sketches, which you can see in the doodles section. I might end up doing a short story as a prologue to the actual story. Fun! That leads to Bamboo Princess... Another story that needs more work. At least with that one, I pretty much know the whole story, but I need references since it takes place somewhere in Asia.

I hope someone besides me gets 999 hits for the Slam Dunk fanart gallery... About 100 hits to go, so that'll take about a week?

I just returned from my little trip. I had fun showing my cousin around and seeing the famly. Nw I get to go back to drawing again. As always I seemed to be most productive when I'm in the airport--I drafted a page for Down. Hehe.

Yesterday I managed to finish and start a bunch of drawings. I felt like that I have so many ideas that it was overwhelming me, but once I stopped thinking and just started drawing, I felt much better. You can find the new drawings in 100 topics and doodles section. One of the doodles is even a Samura Champloo fanart (it's going to be part of 100 topics). Of course I got a bunch of Slam Dunk pics to start/finish. I'm still thinking about a good drawing for the next site design, but I guess it'll have to wait. Maybe I'll have a wedding theme. HAHA. Nah, that'll just gross people out.

Coffee Break, SD, and SC have been updated today.

I just found out that a couple of pages from Curious appear in the third edition of the instructional book How to Draw and Sell Comics. I'm really happy about it because this is the first time that my comic appeared in a professional publication (i.e., not self-published). I started reading the book and it's full of information. The other examples used in the book are really awesome too.
